Volunteer with us!
Medical
Medical volunteers collaborate closely with Medical Assistants (MAs) and a diverse team of healthcare providers.
They engage in both front and back office tasks, playing an essential role in ensuring patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.
Dental
Dental volunteers work alongside Dental Assistants (DAs) and licensed dentists to deliver essential care to patients.
Volunteers gain valuable chairside experience by assisting with procedures such as fillings, extractions, and cleanings — all while helping restore smiles and confidence.
Translation
Translators play a vital role in bridging the communication gap between patients and providers.
They ensure that medical information, questions, and concerns are clearly and accurately communicated — supporting both the patient’s understanding and the provider’s care.
Administrative
Administrative volunteers support our team in essential non-clinical areas such as marketing, photography/videography, journalism, community outreach, and day-to-day office operations. Their contributions help amplify our mission and keep the clinic running smoothly.
Welcome Volunteers!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Lestonnac Free Clinic!
We’re thrilled that you’re considering joining our team. As one of the few remaining free clinics in California, we rely entirely on the dedication and compassion of volunteers like you to make our mission possible. Your time and talents help us provide critical healthcare services to those who need them most.
Please note we do not have a set application cycle and new volunteers are admitted based on our current needs and available space.
Applicants will be contacted via email as soon as a volunteer opportunity becomes available that aligns with their submitted preferences.
Volunteer Hours & Availability
Lestonnac operates six days a week at various locations* from 9 AM to 5 PM. Typical shifts are divided into morning (9 AM–12 PM) and afternoon (1 PM–5 PM) sessions.
Due to our large volunteer base, we may not be able to accommodate volunteers needing to complete a high number of hours in a short timeframe. Additionally, Saturday shifts are highly competitive and fill quickly each week, so if Saturdays are the only days you’re available, volunteering may be limited.
Volunteer Requirements
Monthly commitment of 12 hours (3-4 shifts) per month (dental volunteers only required to complete 2 shifts per month)
Willing to commit to one health fair shift per month, included in your hourly/shift minimum
6 months commitment
Volunteer must be 18 years of age or older
Scrubs are required
Provide proof of HepB vaccination and maintain a yearly negative TB test result.
