Lestonnac’s COVID-19 Response
Lestonnac Free Clinic’s Commitment
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the global economy, daily routines, and more importantly, our community’s health. As we continue to navigate through these troubling times and unknown challenges, we want you to know that Lestonnac Free Clinic will continue carrying out our mission of providing high quality healthcare for the uninsured and economically vulnerable residents in our community. Our mission, especially now, is only made possible through the support of our generous volunteers and donors.
Coming together as a Community
As a community, we need come together to help those who are most vulnerable during this crisis. Courage, kindness, generosity, and adaptability makes a difference in fighting these current and future challenges. This is a time to share resources, collaborate, and take care of one another.
Taking care of our employees
Supporting our employees during this crisis is critical in order to continue providing critical services to our community. We have taken actions to protect the physical well-being and financial security of our employees so that they are in a position to care for their health, while also providing medical care to our patients. Employees who are not in direct patient care are working remotely. All clinic locations will continue to remain open. However, we have taken several precautionary measures to maintain safety. These measures include exercising social distancing, having patients wait in their cars, limiting the number of people in any space, and making phone or video appointments available to our patients. We have increased our sanitary procedures and are actively promoting the recommended practices by the CDC. The commitments made to support and care for our employees will ensure that we can provide the safest possible medical services to our community.
Taking care of our volunteers
We depend on our volunteer doctors to provide care for our patients. During this time, we have shifted the majority of visits to telemedicine in order to minimize direct patient contact. We will continue to care for our patients and believe this method of patient care is most suitable to all who are involved. Many of our patients have underlying medical conditions, which put them at a higher risk for more serious complications from COVID-19. We are working to keep our patients healthy without jeopardizing our healthcare providers.
