With half of our patient population suffering from Diabetes, we felt it was imperative to offer a series of education classes focusing on the prevention and care of this disease. Diabetes education classes are offered at the clinic twice a month on Tuesdays. Classes discuss the importance of healthy living including diet, exercise and knowing what your blood sugar and hemoglobin A1c levels should be.

Mi Corazon, Mi Vida Education Classes

Because heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, the Lestonnac Free Clinic is determined to educate and inspire women to begin making positive lifestyle changes to reduce their risk as well as those around them. Our five class education program, beginning in February and concluding in June, includes speaker presentations, interactive videos and discussions as well as materials provided by the American Heart Association. In conjunction with our education series, we are also offering yoga classes and a Walking Club which will commence each month, concluding in December. Our hope is that by educating women on the benefits of a healthy diet and regular exercise program we will empower them with the proper tools to take control of their current health situation and change it for the better.

Please contact our clinic for more information on class dates and times. (714) 633-4600.

November 17 - Turkey Dinner Baskets

Our annual Turkey dinner basket giveaway was another success this year with more than 150 clinic patients receiving dinner baskets that included a turkey (or ham), stuffing and all the fixings of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The turkeys and hams were donated by Albertsons and the remaining food was obtained through food drives coordinated by St. Jeanne de Lestonnac School in Orange. A big thanks to all who donated as well as those who volunteered their time to pass out the baskets.

December 13 - Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass and Celebration

Father Baca gave an intimate Mass at the clinic for 30 of our patients and staff to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe. We celebrate this beautiful feast day each year at the clinic with a small mass followed by a potluck dinner. This year, we were serenaded by Mariachi singers following the mass and into the dinner!

December 16 - Children's Christmas Party

The annual Children's Christmas party was another successful event. Hundreds of children came out for a day of fun that included food, arts and crafts, game tables and of course, a visit from Santa Claus. Toys for Tots donated hundreds of gifts that were passed out to the children and the local Boy Scouts group organized the event and made all the food. We appreciate all the support received from the local community and know the children and their families were equally grateful. This event truly epitomized the Christmas spirit.
